Overview & Highlights

Situated in the heart of Pavilion KL, On Lee Noodle Malaysia offers an authentic taste of Hong Kong right in bustling Bukit Bintang. Specializing in classic Hong Kong-style noodles, this restaurant crafts each bowl with care, delivering a comforting and nostalgic dining experience for both locals and visitors craving genuine flavors from the region.

On Lee's menu is a vibrant celebration of traditional Hong Kong noodle dishes, with an emphasis on build-your-own bowls. Diners can begin by choosing their broth—either rich, savory beef or delicate, flavorful fish—before selecting noodle types ranging from thick and chewy strands to silky thin noodles, rice noodles, or mee hoon. Signature toppings such as firm fish balls and sliced fish cakes add layers of texture and taste that sing with freshness.

The star of the show, as echoed by many customers, is undoubtedly the signature beef noodles and fish ball noodles. The beef noodles, though somewhat smaller in portion than typical Kuala Lumpur servings, are packed with intense, soulful flavor enhanced by a perfect blend of five special condiments. Each bite of tender beef paired with springy noodles soaked in a deeply savory broth evokes the bustling streets of Hong Kong’s famed cha chaan tengs. The fish balls and related ingredients impress with their fresh, firm texture and authentic oceanic taste, proving that quality is paramount here.

The dining atmosphere at On Lee Noodle Malaysia subtly mirrors the charm of a Hong Kong eatery—modest yet inviting, allowing the food to take center stage. The warm, aromatic broth and meticulously cooked noodles bring an undeniable sense of comfort, ideal for a casual lunch or a flavorful respite during a shopping spree at Pavilion KL.

While some patrons note that prices lean toward the higher end for the KL market and portions may feel a bit petite, the overall experience is one of indulging in culinary craftsmanship that stays true to its origins. The thoughtful balance of freshness, chewiness, and depth in every bowl is a testament to the restaurant’s dedication to quality and authenticity.

For those seeking a rich and comforting Hong Kong fix surrounded by the excitement of Kuala Lumpur’s premier shopping district, On Lee Noodle Malaysia offers a deliciously memorable escape with every spoonful.

Hong Kong style noodles are pretty authentic, but be warned prices are above average. Despite the higher than average prices, the servings are a tad small portioned than the average food serving sizes in KL, be it in Hong Kong or Malaysia, as most will experience & confirm. The RM32 beef noodles with all five condiments arrived in such small portion, surprisingly small despite this Hong Kong branded claim. The RM8 butter toast is definitely too tiny portioned too, and in our view, shocking as it can be reassembled into a single slice of bread. Any kopitiam will outdo this. The RM16 fried wantons are just passable, and overpriced for four wanton morsels. Overall, the coffee and milk tea are authentic Hong Kong style, service is good, food quality is reasonable, but prices are on the higher side especially with the smaller than average serving sizes.

Last Tuesday my niece drove me to Pavilion Mall in KL for lunch n she’s creating me to that lunch. As she has heard n seen so much on social media about this recently opened Hong Kong style noodle shop, she wanted to take me along to try out their signature beef noodles as we both love beef very much but we seldom cook beef in the house. When we arrived it was almost 4 pm n so we headed straight to this shop. We browsed through the menu n ordered our food. Our lunch turned out to be either late lunch or early dinner! I ordered a pax of beef balls n cuttlefish balls wanton noodle soup. My niece ordered a pax of dry koayteow with beef slices, beef tendons n prawn wantons . As for drinks I ordered a hot HK style milk tea n she ordered a hot mix of coffee n tea. I finished my whole bowl of beef n cuttlefish balls of wanton Mee soup. The beef balls were very fresh n crunchy , full of beef flavour. The cuttlefish balls were just as crunchy but I still prefer the beefy beef balls as these were very tasty. The beef soup was clear but full of beefy taste n so it’s very tasty. My niece couldn’t finish all her dry koayteow . She left some for me to try. The koayteow was fine n smooth . She ate all her beef slices, beef tendons , prawn wantons but left 2 cuttlefish balls for me. Not wasting food, I managed to eat her cuttlefish balls n tasted a bit of her dry koayteow. Then we had our hot drinks. The staff who brought our drinks got it all mixed up. He gave my niece my HK milk tea n he gave me my niece’s mix coffee n tea. Only when we both started drinking then only we realized the mistake but too late. We didn’t complain cos it’s ok . Then my niece ordered 3 pax of dessert- red bean dessert to take home as supper. After that we went home. The red bean dessert was good cos it’s thick n creamy , full of red beans n boiled with dried tangerine peel n so it’s very aromatic. On the whole it’s good food but we find it’s a bit too pricey for the average worker. Can only afford to enjoy such Hong Kong style food here once in a while, perhaps after pay day!

Nice food. Authentic Hong Kong style food and their food taste really good. A well deserved 5 star. Their soup base taste very nice, fish cake, wanton and squid ball taste very good as well. Been to HK many times but never heard of this shop but this shop had been around in HK for many many years. Price is a bit high compare to local standard.

I visited this restaurant because of Hong Kong actress Charmaine Sheh :) and tried their famous signature fish ball noodles and French toast. The fish balls and related fish ingredients tasted fresh, firm, and had a solid fish flavor. I was amazed by how perfectly the noodles were cooked, chewy and just right. At first, I thought the soup might be plain, but after finishing the meal, I felt very satisfied and comfortable. The Cham beverage truly captured the authentic Hong Kong taste. I visited during weekday lunchtime, and the service was quite fast, except for the French toast, which we ended up taking away. The waiters were very attentive, and the space was nice and clean. If you enjoy Hong Kong “cha chaan teng” style restaurants, you should give this place a try. Despite the higher price point, I recommend the owner consider creating a lunch set menu so people working nearby can visit more often.
